RECYCLE DISCRIMINATION INTO CELEBRATION

Let trans kids play

Stack the Deck Against Hate recycles bills designed to bar transgender and nonbinary kids from the childhood joy of sports into trading cards featuring trans athletes that kids can see themselves in and look up to as heroes.

TRANS AND NON-BINARY YOUTH ARE UNDER ATTACK

With hundreds of discriminatory bills introduced in state legislatures across the country, 2021 has become the worst year on record for anti-LGBTQ legislative attacks — and for transgender and nonbinary people, the crisis has become unprecedented.

What’s really at risk here is the loss of the documented benefits of participation. Transgender youth want the opportunity to play sports for the same reason all kids do: they want to play. They want to bond with their peers and be a part of a team where they feel like they belong and are accepted for who they are. Excluding them from participation is stigmatizing and harmful. Kids learn a myriad of important life lessons in sports.
